If you’ve been grinding through Fisch’s Cultist Lair update, you’ve probably heard whispers about the Dreambreaker Rod. This is the ultimate late-game fishing weapon that every high-level player wants.
It’s very powerful, it’s very rare, and it’s wrapped in a creepy black aura that makes even the Leviathans think twice. But getting your hands on it? That’s going to take serious dedication. So to help you out I have put together everything that I know about it, from unlocking the full Restless One questline to the best enchantments for turning this rod into an unstoppable money-maker.
Let’s crack on shall we?
What Is the Dreambreaker Rod?

The Dreambreaker Rod is the final unlockable fishing rod in Fisch’s Cultist Lair update. It’s a pitch-black rod with a glitch-like effect and a skull face embedded above the reel.
This isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade — it’s one of the most profitable and versatile rods in the entire game. Its unique passive allows you to mutate fish and boost catch speed and size, depending on the time of day.
How to Unlock the Dreambreaker Rod in Fisch
You can only unlock the Dreambreaker Rod by completing the entire questline for the NPC known as The Restless One, located inside the Cultist Lair.
Once you’ve reached the Lair, look to the right of the central pool — that’s where you’ll find him. Interact using the E key, and he’ll start giving you a chain of challenging quests.
Here’s the full quest order you’ll need to complete:
1. Return the Dreamer’s Amulet
Your first task is to create the Dreamer’s Amulet.
To do that, you’ll need to complete all the side quests from other NPCs in the Cultist Lair. Each NPC drops a unique Amulet Fragment:
- Maelira’s Amulet Fragment
- Eldran’s Amulet Fragment
- Kareth’s Amulet Fragment
- Sythra’s Amulet Fragment
- Varn’s Amulet Fragment
Once you have them all, head to the Sanctum level of the Lair and interact with the Amulet NPC to combine the fragments into the Dreamer’s Amulet.
Bring it back to the Restless One to complete the first quest.
2. Return a Lucid Enchant Relic
Next, you’ll need to craft the Lucid Rod — essential for the next few quests.
You can craft it in the Ancient Archives using:
- Lunar Thread
- Lucid Reel
- Cursed Torch Scrap Metal
- 80,000C$
Once crafted, fish anywhere until you catch an Enchant Relic with the Lucid mutation on it. There’s currently no other way to obtain this mutation. Turn it in to the Restless One to move forward.
3. Return a Lucid Speed Core
Now, head to Sunstone Island and start fishing with your Lucid Rod. Here, you can catch the Speed Core, but only when it carries the Lucid mutation.
Once you’ve got it, bring it back to complete the quest.
4. Return a Lucid Cathulid
This time, you’ll need to fish inside the Hall of Whispers or the Passage of Oaths. Both can be found within the Cultist Lair.
Use your Lucid Rod again to catch a Cathulid with the Lucid mutation. Submit it to the Restless One to continue.
5. Return a Phantom Cathulid
For this step, you’ll need the Eidolon Rod, which can only be obtained after activating all the Obelisks within the Cultist Lair.
Once unlocked, the rod can be purchased for 5,000,000C$ from the Sanctum area.
Now use your new Eidolon Rod to fish in the same areas as before — the Hall of Whispers and Passage of Oaths. Thanks to the rod’s 35% chance to apply the Phantom mutation, catching a Phantom Cathulid shouldn’t take too long.
6. Return a Lucid or Profane Leviathan
Here’s where things get intense.
Head to the Sanctum, where you’ll need to manually summon a Leviathan Hunt event. To do that, place the following fishes on the pedestals around the pool:
- Solarblaze Cathulid
- Nova Cathulid
- Rainbow Cluster Cathulid
- Aurora Cathulid
- Purified Cathulid
Once all are placed, the Leviathan event will trigger. There’s a 10% chance of summoning a Profane Leviathan Hunt instead.
Catch either a Lucid Leviathan using your Lucid Rod or wait for the Profane variant to appear. Turn it in, and the questline will finally wrap up.
Final Step: Purchase the Dreambreaker Rod
After completing all of the above, speak to the Restless One again. He’ll offer you the Dreambreaker Rod for:
- 10,000,000C$
- Level 500+ requirement

Best Enchantments for the Dreambreaker Rod
The Dreambreaker Rod’s stats are already balanced, so enchantments can help you specialize, whether that’s catching bigger fish, speeding up catches, or freezing them mid-fight.
Here are the best enchantments to use:

My Take
The Dreambreaker Rod feels like Fisch’s endgame masterpiece, part trophy, part powerhouse. It rewards mastery of every system the Cultist Lair introduced.
While the questline can take dozens of hours, the result is worth it. Between its passive bonuses and its money-making potential, the Dreambreaker is easily one of the most satisfying items to earn in the entire game.
If you’ve made it this far, take a victory lap. You’ve basically conquered Fisch’s toughest content.
